Like most kids I grew up with a camera constantly in front of my face. My mom was always trying to create lasting memories of my childhood with countless candid shots. My dad worked in the film industry, setting up backdrops in the garage and taking perfectly lit staged portrait photos. We had the best of both worlds: candids + timeless portraits. Growing up with parents who treasured memories of the time we spent together really inspired my love of photography.
At 14 years old I started my first job. Serving Italian ice to customers brought a newfound passion for serving others and helping people feel comfortable. Have you ever felt like a burden at a restaurant because you had a lot of questions about the menu? I do too! I want to be that waitress who has an answer for every question or a suggestion for any uncertainty you may have. My service industry experience taught me the importance of being detail oriented. As a photographer, I take my time with the post-picture-process, making sure each and every image will take your breath away.
As I got older, I began to travel and experience new things. I found myself wanting to capture the beauty of the world around us. Initially I realized that what I saw didn’t match up with the pictures I took. The “wow” factor of a beautiful sunset wasn’t translating into the image I hoped to take so I used this as my motivation to become a better photographer and artist. I’ve taken workshops from several well-known photographers, and continue to further my craft with ongoing education.
During my college years, I met my best friend, David. We fell head-over-heels in love with each other, just two quirky individuals who complement one another without even trying. There were so many little moments of laughter or loving glances that we shared. I wished I could tangibly recreate those cherished moments of connection + joy physically, rather than just mentally. My job as a photographer is to be that second set of eyes that notices those moments of laughter and love, that will make your photos look like movie stills, and to translate your emotions into a timeless memory.
But I also want you to have some portraits just smiling at the camera - photos that you can gift to your family for the holidays, hang in your home, and pass down to your grandchildren. I want you and the setting around you to be beautifully displayed with color and light, all while enjoying the experience of embracing each other and laughing at my goofiness.
My main objective with you as a client is to give you an all-around quality photo experience. I truly want to answer your questions, anticipate your needs (tell you what to do with your hands), laugh with you and become genuine friends throughout this process. I cannot wait to meet you and capture all your beautiful memories.
and I will recommend her to anyone who needs a photographer. She did both our engagement and wedding sessions and we are over the moon with how our photos turned out. She is so nice, responsive and is truly fulfilling something she is extremely passionate about when she’s taking your photos. Not only did my wife and I contract the best photographer in the area, we gained life-long friends.
She has taken our pictures for our engagement, maternity, newborn, and now our baby’s milestone pictures. She will be our family photographer until the end of time! She is so patient with babies and is always the best hype woman!
We got our sneak peek and our full album back so quickly, and I can’t stop looking at the pictures. They are gorgeous!! Overall, my experience with Mel and David was incredible and seamless, and I’d recommend their services to anyone!
